image 004.08.06.02 Park Bench Closeup.jpg (58311 bytes)

Lying on the bench is an interpretative reproduction of the bouquet found in the painting "Roses and Lilacs" by Raoul M. de Longpré.

The careful observer would see a copy of Le Monde and a handwritten note with a bit of ribbon lying on the Bench.

Looking closer the observer would find a champagne cork lying on the ground in front of the bench.  If the observer looked very closely they would find a women's red high heeled shoe and a bit of silk scarf showing through the boxwood hedge beneath the bench. This is David's mystery.

"Were the flowers on the park bench left by a young man who intended them for his  lady love, who instead of keeping their scheduled appointment on the park bench sent a note by messenger breaking the relationship and the young man's heart. Or, could it be that the flowers have in the heat of passion been only momentarily abandoned. Is it possible that the young couple have hidden themselves behind the boxwood hedge and are making love? This is Paris after all and it is springtime."
